VRANA LIBRARY
civic Vrana Bulgaria
Since time in memorial, we have been writing down our texts and stories. We shared, collected and stored these writings in libraries. Nowadays,
where information can be accessed anywhere at any time, the library is not about books anymore: The simultaneity of all media make for a vibrant
and functionally versatile meeting place, which is the guarantee for a successful Varna Library.
The basic figuration is mainly composed of three elements: a large roof, (filling exactly the maximum building range) protecting a set of prisms,
(similar to houses around the black sea) and the public ground floor (touching the ground as little as possible).
The zone below the roof is highly sculptured. We followed the brief and designed each and every collection in different ways. They can be identified
easily, whether form inside or outside
We aim to retain in its overall simplicity, allowing for more refinement in detail and internal spatial qualities. It’s not only a library, but also a multimedia
centre and a communication platform for people, who make the building feel like an open easily accessible space.
By bringing together all branches under one roof, the building shows an entirely new attractive public space in the city, not only for readers, but
also for people who want to spent their free time. The structure of the roof creates an identifiable object in the cities fabric, setting another jewel
into the crown of Varna, retaining its visual autonomy.
For this stands our “Varna City Roof: the media interchanger”,
a landmark and symbol for a successful living together of a multicultural society
