"Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence!" C.Sagan
The inherent design intention is the economical archiving of the Tyrolean museum collections into a singular envelope. This building embeds itself into the site’s south-facing slope and is concealed by it again. There are several reasons for the use of the topographical character of this place:
Low energy: A large part of the building is earth covered and therefore creates ideal uniform climatic and energy solution for winter operations by means of heat insulation and summer cooling through mass.
Green space: Approximately one hectare of Tyrolean rural land remains in a sense ‘unbuilt’. In a figurative sense cultural treasures are buried, but always lay ready to be re-discovered.
